After suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest on the field, Damar Hamlin couldn’t play alongside his teammates anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s not celebrating with them in spirit! The player recently shared a simple yet touching celebratory post on social media after his team won their AFC Wild Card matchup defeating the Miami Dolphins.
The Post
Damar Hamlin posted a sweet message with heart and love emojis on Twitter after the grand win. Before the game, the 24-year-old Buffalo Bills player also tweeted that although he was focusing on his speedy recovery at that moment, he was doing his part by supporting his team from home and his heart was with his “guys” as they got ready for the match.
The Victory
During the match, Damar Hamlin had plenty of reason to cheer, as his team took an early lead in the game. The Bills scored two touchdowns just by the end of the first quarter. After two turnovers in the third quarter by the Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen, the Dolphins came back strong by closing the score gap to 34-24. Then, it was Allen who secured the Bills’ win over their opponent by completing a 23-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Davis in the same third quarter. The score margin between the two teams was quite narrow with the Bills winning by a 34-31 margin. This victory has enabled the team to move on to play in the AFC divisional round.
The Visit
Perhaps it was the visit from Damar Hamlin that provided the extra boost to the team to push through for a win. Hamlin visited the Bills’ training facility just one day before the match to show his support and wish his teammates the best of luck. The team linebacker Matthew Milano documented Hamlin’s visit and shared a photo on his Instagram story, wherein he is seen greeting his teammates and exchanging handshakes with a big smile on his face.
